How to put Grok Bot on your iPhone's Action Button

On Oct 13, 2026 Elon Musk quote-posted "Assign Grok @Bot to your phone button for instant access" (about 2 million views). Here's the setup, checked against Apple's support pages and Grok Bot's docs. It takes about two minutes and costs nothing beyond your Grok Bot plan.

Steps

  1. Install Grok Bot and sign in. Get Grok Bot from the App Store (iOS 18 or later) and sign in. If your access comes from SuperGrok, choose Link Grok Account when asked.
  2. Copy your Bot's link. In Grok Bot, open the Bot's menu in the sidebar and choose Copy link (the id at the end of that link is your Bot). If you copied it on a computer, send it to your phone, for example in a note.
  3. Make a Shortcut. Open the Shortcuts app, tap +, add the Open URLs action, and paste the link. Name it something like "Open my Bot".
  4. Assign it to the Action Button. Settings > Action Button, swipe to Shortcut, then pick your shortcut. Press and hold the Action Button to run it.
  5. No Action Button? Use Back Tap. Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap, choose Double Tap or Triple Tap, and pick the same shortcut.
  6. Talk to it. When the chat opens, tap Start voice chat (empty composer) to talk live, or Start dictation to speak a message. Your Bot can hand work to your other Bots.

The other way people do it

The post Elon quoted (from @liam_fallen) uses the Action Button to open the Grok app in voice mode and has Grok pass tasks to Bots. Some owners only see an "Open Grok" option in the Action Button list, not a voice shortcut, so results vary. The Grok Bot link method above is the one we could verify step by step.

FAQ

Which iPhones have an Action Button?

Apple's supported models with an Action Button in place of the Ring/Silent switch (iPhone 15 Pro and later). Other iPhones can use Back Tap instead.

Will the button send messages on its own?

No. The shortcut only opens your Bot's chat. You still speak or type the request, and the Bot asks before sending or spending.

Where do I find my Bot's link?

In Grok Bot, open the Bot's menu and choose Copy link. Grok Bot's team confirmed this on the Cursor forum on Oct 16, 2026.
