Grok Bot lets in-car Grok do multi-step jobs for you, like placing a coffee order, booking a reservation or handing a task to one of your named Bots. Plans changed twice in October 2026, so this guide separates what Tesla and SpaceXSI state from what owners report.
There is no separate app in the car. You talk to Grok as usual (App Launcher > Grok, hold the steering wheel mic button, or say "Hey Grok"), and Grok passes multi-step tasks to Grok Bot. If you've created Bots in Grok Bot, ask for one by name. Example from Tesla: "Hey Grok, order my usual coffee for pickup."
Grok Bot does the work on its own cloud computer, using Connectors (Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Google Drive) for your accounts. Tasks that need a login, CAPTCHA or approval wait for you in the Grok Bot app.

Tesla's page: SuperGrok on the Grok account signed into the car. At the Sept 22, 2026 launch, in-car Grok Bot was SuperGrok Heavy only, with other tiers promised later.
Grok Bot itself (outside the car) works with legacy Cursor Pro, Pro+ and Ultra, a linked SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy or X Premium+, or The X Subscription on Premium, Super or Ultra. Plus, Free and SuperGrok Lite don't include it.
Not yet confirmed: whether The X Subscription (Oct 12) or X Premium+ unlocks Grok Bot in the car. Teslarati noted on Oct 13 that neither Tesla nor SpaceXSI had said. We'll update this when either company does.

On The X Subscription, Grok, Grok Bot and Cursor draw from one weekly pool that resets each week. Extra usage comes from prepaid Additional Usage credits. In the car, if a signed-in account hits its limit, the car prompts you to open the Grok app. Check the pool under Usage at grok.com/dashboard.
What we can't confirm: whether basic voice commands keep working in the car once the pool is empty. Neither company documents it.

Symptom: Grok won't hand tasks to Grok Bot.
Fix: Grok Bot needs a SuperGrok subscription on the Grok account signed into the car, plus Grok Bot set up with that same Grok account linked (Tesla's support page). At launch it was limited to SuperGrok Heavy. See the Grok Bot in Tesla guide for the full checklist.

Symptom: In-car Grok used to reach your Bots, then started saying it can't, or asks for SuperGrok. Owners on X Premium+ reported this around Oct 14 to 15, 2026, one of them right after installing the Halloween update (2026.38.5).
Fix: Tesla's support page lists a SuperGrok subscription on the Grok account signed into the car. X Premium+ can be linked to Grok Bot on the Grok Bot side (Cursor help), but Tesla's page does not list it for the car. No official statement explains the change. If you need in-car Grok Bot now, the documented path is SuperGrok on the same Grok account the car is signed into. We have not confirmed whether Tesla will restore Premium+ access.

Requirement is from Tesla's page (high). The change after the update comes from owner reports only (low).

Symptom: The car says Grok Bot needs Grok Heavy, even after you moved to a new plan.
Fix: At the Sept 22, 2026 launch, Grok Bot in Tesla was limited to SuperGrok Heavy. Tesla's support page now says SuperGrok. Make sure the car has the latest software, then sign out of Grok in the car and sign back in with the account that holds your plan. The X Subscription (launched Oct 12) replaced the old plans for new sign-ups, and neither Tesla nor SpaceXSI has said whether its Premium, Super or Ultra plans unlock Grok Bot in a personal Tesla (Teslarati, Oct 13). No confirmed fix yet for unified accounts.

Symptom: Grok in the car doesn't know your named Bots, or acts like it's on a separate account.
Fix: The car and Grok Bot must use the same Grok account. Check three things: the car is signed in (Grok on the touchscreen > Sign In, finish on your phone in the Grok app); Grok Bot is set up with that same Grok account linked; that account has SuperGrok. Then ask for the Bot by name. A SuperGrok link to Grok Bot is permanent and can't be moved to another Cursor account, so link the right one.

Symptom: You're on The X Subscription and Grok Bot work draws from the same weekly pool as Grok.
Fix: Two official facts: on The X Subscription, Grok, Grok Bot and Cursor draw from one shared weekly pool (SpaceXSI docs), and when a signed-in car hits your account limit, the car prompts you to open the Grok app (Tesla). Neither says whether basic car commands keep working at that point, so we can't confirm either way. Check your pool under Usage at grok.com/dashboard before a long trip. Touchscreen and steering wheel controls do not depend on Grok.

Whether in-car voice commands pause when the pool is empty is not documented.

Do I need a separate app for Grok Bot in my Tesla?
No. Grok Bot runs through the same Grok voice experience in the car. You need the Grok Bot app on your phone or computer to set up Bots and approve steps.
Which subscription do I need for Grok Bot in a Tesla?
Tesla's support page says a SuperGrok subscription on the Grok account signed into the car. Whether The X Subscription Premium plan or X Premium+ also unlocks it in the car has not been confirmed by Tesla or SpaceXSI.
Why can't Grok in my car reach my Bots?
The car and Grok Bot must use the same Grok account, that account needs SuperGrok, and Grok Bot must be set up with that account linked. Sign out of Grok in the car and back in with the right account, then ask for the Bot by name.
My car asks for SuperGrok Heavy. Why?
Grok Bot launched in Tesla on SuperGrok Heavy only. Tesla's page now lists SuperGrok. Update the car's software and sign out and back in. There is no confirmed fix for accounts unified under The X Subscription yet.
