Start with #1. It solves most "Grok can't do that" reports.
Symptom: Grok says it can't do vehicle commands, or asks you to use the short press.
Fix: Set Grok's personality to Assistant. Unhinged, Kids Story, Therapist and similar modes cannot control the car. Check the label at the bottom-left of the voice text box.
Symptom: Grok refuses climate or media even in Assistant mode.
Fix: You need software 2026.26 (Summer Update) or later on an AMD Ryzen car. Check Controls > Software.
Symptom: Nothing happens when you say Hey Grok.
Fix: Enable it in Controls > Audio > Grok Settings, confirm Premium Connectivity or Wi-Fi, and say it with an American English pronunciation. The wake word is trained on American English. Long-press the voice button as a fallback.
Symptom: Wake word responds after a reboot, then stops after a while.
Fix: No confirmed fix. Owners report reboots help temporarily; some saw improvement on 2026.20. Use the long press meanwhile.

Symptom: Grok seems unable to do things it did before the update.
Fix: Check the personality first (a common cause), then reboot the touchscreen (hold both scroll wheels).
Symptom: Spinner or no reply.
Fix: Grok is cloud-only. Check Premium Connectivity or Wi-Fi signal. Check status.x.ai for outages.
Symptom: Older car has Grok chat but no calls, music, climate or glovebox.
Fix: Expected. The expanded command set requires an AMD Ryzen infotainment computer. Check Controls > Software > Additional Vehicle Information.
Symptom: Grok won't hand tasks to Grok Bot.
Fix: Grok Bot needs a SuperGrok plan on the Grok account signed into the car, plus Grok Bot set up with that account. At launch it was limited to SuperGrok Heavy.
Symptom: Prompt appears mid-conversation.
Fix: You hit your account usage limit. Usage resets per your Grok plan; or sign in if you were using Grok signed out.
